Tools I'm using to build what comes next.
Good tools stay out of the way. Great tools elevate the craft. These are the ones that help me think clearly, build cleanly, and honour the engineering mindset I grew up with.
Workstation
Mac Studio 2023, M2 Max, 32GB
I've used Windows and Linux systems for a long time. For me, Mac OS provides the perfect balance of commercial stability and that Nix-like experience.
Apple Studio Display 2022 (Standard Glass) x2
I spend a good chunk of my day staring at screens, the picture quality of 5K Retina makes it that much easier. Probably overkill for what I do day-to-day, there are cheaper 27-inch displays out there.
Custom 60% Keyboard 2025
There wasn't a keyboard I really liked so I built my own. It's a compact, all black keyboard with silent linear switches. Most importantly, I love using it!
Zy's Rail
As close to the "perfect" mouse as there is, I absolutely love this thing. Unique design, lightweight, and you can adjust the CPI, Polling Rate and Lift-off Distance without any additional software.
Onyx Herman Miller Aeron Chair 2020
As someone who spends a lot of time at my desk, I invested in a good ergonomic chair and it's not let me down. I also picked up the third-party headrest in the original Onyx.
Development
Helix Editor
Having spent a long time managing an ever growing Vim configuration, Helix was a breath of fresh air.
Ghostty
What started out as a personal project from the co-founder of Hashicorp , is now an extremely well made cross-platform terminal emulator.
TablePlus
My preferred cross-platform software for working with SQL databases.
Claude
Needs no introduction, my preferred AI companion.
Productivity
Raycast
A native, keyboard first, extensible and reliable productivity toolkit.
Reflect
Even though I still use a pen and paper for immediate notes, they'll typically get a more formal write-up in Reflect where I can turn them into a connection or action.
Linear
This is an extremely well made tool that I use to manage my own software projects.
